Born in 1958 in Woking Paul Weller is also called the ' Godfather of Britpop ". In the 1970s and 1980s he made a furore with his bands The Jam and The Style Council. In 1993, he made his debut as a solo artist with Wild Wood. The sequel of his solo career was unstable. About Heliocentric (2000) ran the opinions widely. Even appeared in the British press reports that it had been his last plate. In 2002, however, he comes back strong with its sixth studio album Illumination. It has been a long time since we have heard so cheerful and optimistic Weller. He seems to be in love! He is also fond of his daughter, witness the sentimental Who Brings Joy. Fortunately, there is between all this homely luck also still room for a strong political statement (A Bullet For Everyone) and a brilliant trumpet sample (it's Written In The Stars). This is Illumination become a very varied album without weak spots, or it could be the crazy instrumental Spring (At Last). There are also nice guest performances by Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) and Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene), but my favorite track is the concluding title track that is formed by only an acoustic guitar and that wonderful voice.
